Welcome to the family!
Poke around, read up on things that take your interest.
You can't go wrong when you ask questions, there are a lot of smart people here that will help you on your journey.
Just don't ask me anything, I'm likely to send you down a shadowy path.

Hello Rob,
How well do you like the sound you have now?
Have you identified a weak link in your equipment?

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to forum!

If your speakers are working well with a 2A3 single-ended amplifier, then you're a perfect candidate for a Zen Triode.  Any of them would be an upgrade because the 6P15P-EV output tube is faster, far more neutral, and more extended.  It is an unbeatable tube.  Everything that we have made since the original in 1996 has been an effort to get as close to that sound as possible.  It is our reference.

Brian, I think the weakest link might be my TT.  Also my Audio Note is up there in age, but still performs really well.

Steve, thanks nothing but good reviews on all your equipment.  I will indeed look into the Zen Triode. Thanks

Hello Rob,
I hope someone will chime in here who knows more than me (almost anyone in the forum). I do not know how to upgrade a phonograph. Is yours needing a better tone-arm, or some vibration damping, or what is it needing?

You have not mentioned your auditorium. Are you happy with the room acoustics?

Here is hoping someone will find this thread who can actually be of use to you.

robd - If you are looking to upgrade the phonostage, lots of members here will vouch for the ZP3, with or without the 25 upgrades. You can order new from Steve and get all the latest tech, or wait for one to come up used on the classifieds. All our gear was order new with the exception of our CSP3 which I bought used and had it sent to Decware for a check up and had the warranty changed to my name. I have used the ZP3 with the ZMC1 step up on a few low output MC carts and never been disappointed. Ask your questions, mine the forum and keep us posted on YOUR trip. Happy listening, Chris.

Brian-I'm thinking of upgrading the TT to a newer one. Say Rega P6 or a VPI.  I have my set up in my bedroom. Not too bad of a set up.

Chris-I have been reading about the ZP3 might be the way to go.  I can plug it in the Aux. of Audio Note M1.  There are very nice options here.

Rob,

I'm going to put in my usual plug for a Technics 1200G TT.  Technics hit it out of the park with this one.  After 12 years with direct drive Technics 1200 tables, I'd never go back to a belt.  The only issue with the G that I found was the resonance in the arm around 300 Hz.  (All tables/arms have a vibration signature.)  That was easily taken care of though.

Did you see this 2016 review of the 1200G?  If this link doesn't work, I can send you the PDF.  The review is on page 42.

If you want a great deal on a VPI classic 1 contact Steve Yeung at VAS audio. Steve does a lot of work for VPI and has several classic 1 turntables with upgraded motors. He also manufactures amazing cartridges. Will give you a great price on a TT & cart bundle. Also does cartridge re-tipping.

He's in central NJ.

Well I narrowed my choices down to the VPI classic 1 and the Rega P6.  Just a hard choice.

Thanks

I have a Rega RP3 with all the Groovetracer mods and LOVE it. . .best turntable I've ever owned (I have never owned a Project--just a Garrard, a few Pioneers and a B&O).

Can't argue with you.  I have had my Rega Planar 3 for over 10 years no complaints here.  Reading all the engineered and re-engineered that goes on now a days with TT thought it was time to upgrade.

12AX7 tubes are available on this website for $22.00. Scroll down under "tube gear" and you should fine them.

I don't know what brands of tubes Decware sells. Based on what I've read from other members. I'm guessing it's what Steve finds and likes in his amps.
