Title: Input tube related hum Post by Rivieraranch on 10/17/19 at 03:05:04 My Mini Torii developed an annoying hum from the right. I first swapped the rectifiers to opposite sides but the hum persisted. Then I switched the inputs. Well damned if the hum didn’t move to the left side! I obtained this NOS 1970’s RCA 5814 black plate pair earlier this year. They’ve been running 24/7 since around April. They tested good but it seems this one didn’t last very long. Oh well. |
Title: Re: Input tube related hum Post by Steve Deckert on 11/05/19 at 02:21:53 When an input tube adds hum to an amplifier that was originally hum free, it is because the AC heater is leaking into the other elements inside the tube. I had one just today that had 12dB of hum on one side only. Steve |
