Here’s a story to warm our hearts…..

So I informed HappyGirl that another piece of Decware gear would be arriving soon.

HG: shrieking “Awesome! Which one!?”
Me: It’s called the ZStage and it is similar to the ZBit we currently own.
HG: Is it an amplfier?
Me: No, it’s kinda like a minimalist preamp - you can adjust the voltage. We’ll have more gain.
HG: What does that even mean?
Me: Who knows? - but trust me you’re gonna love it!
HG: Okay, I sure hope it has tubes.
Me: It has one tube.

After a brief pause thinking for a moment.

HG: You know, we should buy one of everything Steve makes.
Me: Ha Ha, yes it seems like we already have!

Another pause.

HG: We need a Decware system for every room in the house...

So upon hearing the great news, HappyGirl immedately retreives her tools, i.e. allen wrench, carpenters level, etc., and goes to work adjusting the shelving of - and re-organizing - our rack in order to make room for the new compenent.

Anytime we receive new Decware gear, HappyGirl deems it worthy of a celebration (and trust me, HG likes to celebrate).
So off to the kitchen she goes to make craft cocktails and appetizers.

Let the celebration begin!

It’s Friday afternoon and I had planned to go wingsuiting, but the weather clouded over and the plane is grounded.
So, instead I’m home and I’ve got the Torii Mk IV cranking some tunes while HappyGirl brings me her hand-crafted margaritas.
Now as you may recall HG loves our Torii and Rachael amplifers (check out her photos if you haven’t already).
I’ve been keeping it a secret but as she brings me a second margarita, I let it slip that there is a Mk V now available.
Oops.

Had to type this up before the details are forgotten:

HG shrieks: What!? Do we have our order in!?
Me: No. Not yet.
HG: What are we waiting for!?
Me: I thought we’d enjoy the Mk IV for a while
HG: Okay, but we can enjoy the Mk IV while we wait
Me: True
HG: So what’s the problem then?
Me: Well, things have changed since we got the Torii Mk IV a couple of years ago
HG: What changes - this sounds bad
Me: Well, bad for us, but good for Decware. Decware got discovered
HG: What do you mean discovered? By whom?
Me: The mainstream. The HiFi media published several very positive reviews of Decware amps, and now EVERYBODY wants one.
Me: The wait has gone from 4-5 months to no telling how long. Probably 2 years minimum.
HG: Wow
Me: So I decided to wait until the waiting list comes down.
Me: Besides I didn’t want to add additional stress to Steve and his team. They’re working as fast as they can.
HG: That sounds good. Let the normies get theirs and when things are calmer we’ll order our Mk V.
Me: Exactly

Tommy, the waiting list will probably not deflate much any time soon. Waiting one more day only adds to the diabetic sore of a list, LOL

Best put your order in, forget it, and 3 years from now a very nice package will arrive on your doorstep :-)

What an inspiring and uplifting story.

Not to compare feebly, but my wife is not able to just sit and enjoy music the way most of us do. She is quite a talented artist still, but uses paints and designs intriguing ways to show the art she creates. She is truly a natural treasure, but can't just relax and "listen" for more than a few minutes and usually only does so in support or as a concession to my enthusiasm over something.

She is a painter. But she always comes up with ideas that mean I "have work to do" for her with my own tools. And I always try my best.

She does not try to sell my gear, as HockessinKid revealed (in jest I know) when I inevitably fall asleep at my work. She is very happy for both of us that I now have my own music room, again.

But she loves to hear music, as a background, unintrusive thing she can easily ignore if she wants, not as THE elemental, emmersive and enjoyable ride where our minds can take us. That is why I have four other, smallish, questionable stereos distributed around the house. Now she had no understanding of my old backyard system, which was basically a leftover club band system (4-way thing with a couple thousand watts), set to whisper instead of rock out. But tolerance is one of the ways she deals with my needs.

I think you are a very lucky man to have found HappyGirl and garnerd her attention. I am too a very lucky man, just different.

I love this thread. It reminded me of my wife when I was shopping for our first post-marriage TV. Upgrading from an old CRT to an HD flatscreen. I had researched things and was preparing to argue for a 42 incher. Her response was "Are you sure that is big enough?" ;D

Life is a fun journey.

My wife was never supportive of my hobbies, music, motorcycles, cars and golf. It was hard not being me all those years. There were other things that were wonderful, just not enough. So, I traded her in! Now I’m finally returning to normal and enjoying my hobbies again.
I agree with the “just get on the list” mentality. You can always change your mind in the coming year or so.
