Title: My Brother - Brad Deckert
Post by Steve Deckert on 05/19/19 at 03:45:30

I thought I would take a moment to introduce my brother, Brad Deckert.  He's around 4 years younger than I and lives in the area (central Illinois) and has had an extremely successful career as an electrical contractor, now retired early and doing what he loves, which is flying his WWII TBM Avenger which he owns !!!  (BTW, if you think the audio hobby is expensive... peefftttt!)

He acquired a it years ago and has restored it.  At the same time he has created a nation wide group of TBM planes that still fly!

That's him flying around with a Navy Jet!

Today was his annual AIR show, which has grown to an insane size.  He takes WWII veterans who actually fought in these planes for rides, which trust me, is an emotionally charged experience for all involved.  His support for our veterans is becoming legendary.

I'm proud and impressed to say the least, with his accomplishments and see a bright future for us both!

He now lives in his hanger much of the time working on his planes and coordinating air shows across the country.

He actually got the US military to transport his plane inside what I would guess was a C17 to Hawaii so he could fly it over Perl Harbor during the anniversary of WWII.

This is his facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/brad.deckert.1

I'm writing this post because I'm proud of my bother  :)

Steve,

Thanks for sharing, the plane is gorgeous and that one pic of him flying over Pear Harbor Memorial is something else.

Wow. Always have time to read stories about people giving back especially to veterans.

Wow Steve. Combining one's passion with a great cause. It's a wonderful way of giving back to those who have served. Up, up and away.

It is nice to see a family that works hard to be successful in their chosen fields.
My brother sucks poop out of septic tanks.

Steve...thank your for sharing the information about your brother.  One thing is for sure.....the Deckert’s truly transform their passion into reality and give back to their audience.

I have always been mesmerized by airplanes and I am partial to the Air Force even though I was never in the military.  About 10 years ago I had visited the National Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio.  It was truly an amazing experience and gave me a whole new appreciation for our military.  The again...my father is a die hard Marine...so I already came from a solid foundation.

My wildly patriotic wife now has a greater appreciation for the Deckert family and the Decware business where much of our discretionary money has gone the past few years.  Thanks for sharing, Steve!

Pretty much is...  he's actually a helicopter pilot.  To know what that is like, try to stand still on top of a 24 inch round ball with the wind blowing.  What impresses me about him is that this is a hobby that costs staggering amounts of money.  STAGGERING AMOUNTS.  Yet, his resourcefulness and business savvy lets him pursue his passion and I'm sure by now he's making more in his retirement than he did when he was working.... asshole.

... Just kidding ; )
