Title: Premaplifier Matching
Post by Hankster on 03/30/19 at 02:35:48

I was wondering if anyone knew what impedances are needed to make a good match for pairing a preamp for the  SuperZen2.  Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

The SE84UFO2 has an input impedance of 100K Ohms.  Pretty much any tube preamp would be tickled with that.

Steve thanks for replying to my post.  I purchased a Cambride Audio Preamp\DAC\Network streamer to go with my SuperZen.  I'm hoping the to will play nice together, Cambrige does not spec out what the impedances are for the preamp stage.  I did not know if you my have an idea if they would work well together?.

Thanks for any input.

Hi
just putting my thoughts out there.
With regard to preamplifier matching I use a Music First  Audio Classic V2
with a 2a3 pp tube power amp and works well. I have purchased a SE84UFO2.1 and noticed it has a volume control. My current 2A3 PP does not. Will the MFA V2 sound wise be affected by SE84UFO2.1 volume control?

Thanks in advance for any views shared

Well, you can set the amplifier gain control full up--that essentially makes it an amplifier without a volume control. Adjusting the gain between the two controls and components willing fact alter the sound, playing around you'll find sound and texture you prefer.
