Title: Question about Decware Zen84 kit 1k Watt resistors
Post by andrewbutton on 03/04/19 at 19:29:00

I bought the Zen84 kit. The instructions stated to get 1/2 1K resistors, there are 4. The board I put together last night states the 1k resistors should be 2watt, says right on the board. The resistors I have from Vishay, taken from the specs for the unit look awfully small. It would seem there is not a 1k/2watt resistor that is of the right form factor. Does anybody have a source or number for a 1k 2 watt resistor, or should I just the use the half watt 1k resistor even though the board states 2 watts ? HELP  !

The 1K 1/2 watt resistors (2) are the control grid resistors for the input tube.  The other 1K 1/2 watt resistors (2) are the control grid resistors for the output tubes.

The third pair of 1K resistors are 2 watt and are the plate to screen-grid resistors for each output tube.  These must be 2 watt or they will fail.  They will fail by design  if there is a catastrophic tube short.
