Title: SE84UFO not working
Post by Geno on 08/12/18 at 19:52:06

Help!  I’m having an issue with my SE84UFO. The input and output tubes are on, but the rectifier does not fire up. I swapped out rectifiers, but still no response. If the fuse is blown, would the input and output tubes still come on?

I think if the fuse were blown all tubes would not light up.

Jiggle the rectifier about and see if it connects and lights up . . . either both rectifiers are not functioning or the socket is not making a good connection?

Lon, I have tried 4 different rectifiers. And wiggled each one in the socket, but no bananas. I shined a light into the socket to see if I could see anything that looked odd. Did not see anything suspect. Any other suggestions?

There may be a fuse inside the amp to protect the rest of the amp from a rectifier failure. This is a new thing that Steve has added to some amps recently I believe. So. . . I guess taking the top-plate off and looking at that fuse may be in order. Otherwise. . . try to contact Steve as soon as you can.

Ok Lon. I’ll give him a call in the morning. Thanks for your help!

You're welcome.  I would guess it would be one of the fuses inside.

Update on this. It was the 5A internal fuse that blew.  Back in business!
