Title: Do we need the internal lining on our HDTs?
Post by Steve Harman on 06/15/18 at 12:09:50

Hi,

I'm helping my father-in-law build a pair of HDTs and they're coming on nicely, all the woodwork is complete based on Steve's plans available on the Decware site.

We plan to incorporate the Alternate Tuning mods and It's pretty clear what to do with the "egg crate" foam - the PDF states that the egg-crate foam "Replaces felt previously used".

But does this mean we should NOT be lining all the internal panels of the speakers at all?  The original plans indicate lining the internal surfaces of the cabinets with, I think it's 2mm foam + felt of some kind?

Also when wiring up the binding posts to the active drivers, is it ok to take the wire in from the posts at the back, through one of the internal"oval" cutouts and up to the driver?  Or is there a different preferred route?

Thanks in advance,

Steve
