Title: Dulcet Tones - Thanks Lon !!!
Post by Randy in Caintuck on 04/15/18 at 18:55:02

A while ago, I was surfing through the Decware forums and came across a pipe organ CD that was part of the thread ..... Dulcet Tones featuring Jack Mitchener playing the Salem Tannenberg pipe organ.

Apparently, one of Lon's ancestors was the builder of this instrument ...

I don't have a lot of this type of music in my library and decided to purchase the CD and check it out.
I'm so glad that I did .....

The instrument and playing are superb ..... and it's pretty amazing to hear that huge pipe organ floating above my Betsy baffles at the front of my listening room .....

My thanks to Lon (and his ancestor, David Tannenberg) for this very fine addition to my music collection.

Highly recommended .....

Happy listening,
Randy

Hey Randy, nice that you picked this up. It's a wonderful organ, and a very nice performance and recording. Tannenberg was my great great great great great grandfather, on my mother's side. My Dad wrote the definitive biography of him, "Organs for America" by William H. Armstrong. I got to see and hear most of the surviving organs when I was a kid and my Dad was traveling about to Moravian communities researching the book.
