Title: Z-ROCK2 is HERE !
Post by Steve Deckert on 07/27/17 at 21:53:11

I'm pleased to announce that we are now shipping the Z-ROCK version 2 having successfully completed its development!

All those who had a ZROCK on order are being shipped the ZROCK2 for no additional charge despite the $100 difference in price.

This new version takes the original concept behind the design and liberates it with a wonderfully designed set of EQ's that are now fully adjustable.  Imagine a single tube, class A triode EQ designed to restore bass and tone to otherwise weak digital internet streams, or just systems that sound a touch too dry or too lean.  A box with nearly perfect transparency capable of "fixing" all bogus recordings, or correcting for all bass shy speaker/room combos, or BOTH.

My only concern with the original ZROCK was that in some systems it would have too much bass so the listener would hit the bypass switch.  Usually this would solve that occasional problem, but the reality is now that there isn't too much bass, the tone is by comparison gone and without the tone I no longer want to listen.

Making the amount of EQ full adjustable from FLAT to max alleviates this potential problem and makes it compatible with virtually any system, Decware or otherwise.

HERE IS THE OWNERS MANUAL for how to operate a ZROCK2

Also the ZROCK page has been updated as of date of this message.  Since the operation has changed the page has been largely re-written.

The Z-ROCK2 may just be the missing link that I've been waiting for. I wonder if it would add the missing bass from my ZP3 to the TORII MK4 with the DM 947's in my mostly "untreated" basement

Thoughts?

The ZROCK will definitely do what you're asking and allow you to fine tune the bass to your system and room.

I’m confused! Can you Steve please confirm what tube this new version supports (ZROCK2)? I've read that with a new power supply you have to use 6922 not 12AU7 type of tubes. In decription (on main site) it is still 12AU7 and same in this user’s manual.

yes, it was my intension to change to the a 6922 however in testing I found the 12AU7 to be superior in this circuit so we kept it the same.  The ZROCK2 uses a 12AU7 just as the ZROCK did.

Thank you again for fast answer Steve!
Good news for me as I have one pair of Sylvania NOS Platinum Matched EC82 (12AU7) tubes. Now I have a purpose for them 😁
