Title: Warning:  Don't take your wife to Audio Shows...
Post by Rraymond on 11/06/16 at 18:21:42

Unless that is you want new really cool gear added to your collection.  Yes guys, my wife did it again.  We went to the Toronto Audio Show and she fell in love with this TT.  It's made by Acoustic Solid from Germany and is gracefully enhanced by a beautiful bubinga wood plinth.  I told her before we went, "no buying at the show, just look and listen".  Well, she didn't have to twist my arm very hard at all for this one!

And it has an MC cartridge to boot!

I smell a rat.  Rraymond, I think you are using your wife as an excuse to buy the equipment...hahahaha.  You are funny.

Rraymond, next week take your wife and visit a Lamborghini dealership and let's see what happens.  HAHA

Stone,
We are auditioning several systems. We ordered a Modwright preamp to try with the Torii Jr to see if the boost will bring it to life. Been talking with another Torii Jr owner who's had amazing results adding that pre to it and has been hearing stunning results. Should have the MW in a few days. We'll see how things turn out.
Rick

Very nice Rick, bringing in an MW Pre. Hopefully it can coax more out of your Torii Jr. you are looking for.

I'm having a LTA MicroZOTL2.0 in. This Pre is to intriguing to me, not to have in for a couple weeks. LTA is burning it for me (3 or 4 days).

Stone, I thought you were anti-Preamp?  Is the pre-amp for your ZMA or for something else you have?

She's a keeper for sure.

Matchstickman,
My wife and I visited some friends in LA a couple years back and they took us to a fancy shopping mall. In that mall they had a Tesla store. It was fun looking at the cool Teslas but I suddenly realized her tendencies and starting sweating bullets when she started asking questions about financing. Needless to say, I was able to escort her out of there before she pulled the trigger. We do not need a second mortgage for a high end car! :o

Match, for some of my tunes I miss the little extra viscosity (yes with and for my ZMA).

I called Linear Tube today....and she is shipping....should have in the System for Friday I hope.

Rick, get on the waiting list for the new one  ;D.
http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/35-000-tesla-tesla-model-3-electric-car-launch-2016-article-1.1868717
....a tad more affordable!
I think the wait is now out to 2 years or something.

Elon is busy with his new Giga Factories.....very important in my book (seriously).

I told Elon, you better increase your security ....the Koch brother's will try and knock you off for helping mankind have a better future!

It is probably to late anyway you look at it. The big methane release from the poles (especially from the North Pole), is only 15 to 25 years away......the MELT continues at a rapid pace............... .

Stone, I did some research.  Is that thing $1100?  If that is right, it seems like a steal for what it supposedly does.

I wish you luck.

Stone, I'm anxious to hear what you think of this pre and how it compares to the CSP3 and the AR.

You bet Match. She is on the road (after a four day burn in process/courtesy of LTA) and I should have in my System mid evening on Thursday. Yes, the price you stated is correct. If I dig it stock....I'll get the Linear power supply and tube roll.

I had my CSP3 with Jupiter caps and my ARC..... . My modified Adagio's with the ZMA stand alone are an excellent match. However, as I mentioned, some density here and there is missed.

I'll hear, if it is all this below~ I like what this reviewer ran it with.....I will see/hear how the ZMA likes it:

"This preamplifier renders beautiful colors, timbres, and tonality of instruments when compared with other line stages.
The MicroZOTL2.0 will compete with any other preamplifier, regardless of cost, in the areas of overall spatiality, image density, and three-dimensional imaging."

"MicroZOTL2.0. Not only did it drive the system with intense punch and pace, it did this with effortless liquidity that just let the music fill the room."

"In my home reference system, the MicroZOTL2.0 was teamed up with Pass Labs XA-60.8 mono blocks, a Pass Labs X-250.8, a First Watt SIT 2, and First Watt F7. I wanted to make sure that the magic I was hearing was not just some synergy with these great amplifiers, all creations of Nelson Pass. So, I hit the road and tried the MicroZOTL2.0 in three different systems using excellent amps from Canary Audio and Magnus Audio. Each time, the same dramatic changes happened that I detailed in this review. After experiencing the effects of the MicroZOTL2.0, the owners of these other systems found it difficult to go back to their own preamplifiers because their systems sounded "washed out" and had more two-dimensional imaging compared with the MicroZOTL2.0."

I read those reviews, too, and they make this pre sound impressive.  But, you never know.  Decware never gets included in the review mix.  This will be a good test.  If your impressions are positive I might take a dip in that pond myself.  The price is right and I'm betting resale on this unit is quick.

Don't worry about Decware not being in the review mix. I/you know how good Decware is. I did not need the Tone Audio review to tell my ears how good the ZMA is either. I own a ZMA and have it hooked up with Reference Cable and Reference Speaker's.....cause' it is THAT GOOD.

Oh yeah, resale would be quick and LTA's return policy is fair too.

Raymond- I would say that a audio store would be the perfect place to take the wife if she has audio tastes like your wife....the place NOT to take her would be Tiffany's jewelry store. Most of the audio gear we have is cheeep compared to what I have seen in Tiffs!! It sounds like she loves music and gear as much as you do. Got a wonderful partner, keep her smiling. Happy listening, Chris.

Moving over to the ZMA Forum and let this Thread resume its initial post.

Cool on the wife gig guys. My girlfriend loves my Debut Carbon in the Solid State Rig / Polk SDA SRS 1.2's. Yes, I use the SDA function with Vinyl.....very enjoyable.

.......Listening Room is a whole different ballgame for the most discerning.

Stone,
That's great that you have your dedicated listening room. My wife and I have a shared room for listening, TV and even my office is in one corner. It works for the both of us and my wife does enjoy music or whatever I'm into. She's an awesome woman!

So important, it is important to you and she knows that..... . It is important to her too. Sue and I, have Vinyl Friday nights with a bottle of wine. Enjoy, no matter what combination of component's you decide upon. It is all about the music and how it helps us unwind/nourish and bond....never cliché to say.

That is so cool Stone. We have our date night on Thursday night and I can see that would be a great way to finish off the night with the wine and music!  We gotta love our women!
