Title: "Purple Rain"
Post by Corey on 09/24/16 at 05:39:14

Granted, Prince was effeminate, yet John Petrucci really makes something out of Prince's best song! :

ENJOY!

Actually as far as I can tell, and I've been a Prince fan since the first album, Prince was VERY heterosexual, not  homosexual.

I love the original Purple Rain. This version. . . it's okay.

I think Prince made it quite clear Corey: "I'm not a women ~ I'm not a man ~ I am something you will never understand".....no need to worry........

Whether Prince was homo, hetero or bisexual; I think your ignorance and homophobia - have no place on the Forum or anywhere for that matter.

I'm glad your employer and/or future employer has access to this info here when they background check You.    Good luck.

Cheers Lon and Stone!

Unintelligent rubbish like that statement has no place amongst good folk such as yourselves.

I agree Mark.

I really like times 0:30-0:49 in the song!

Stone,

I am no longer a homo-phobe.  I went through a phase between 2007-2010 where I was annoyed and slightly anxious when I would see one and/or how they were living; hair style, clothing or sometimes lack of it, lisp and that certain bright eyed, almost goofy/girly look in the face.

Now, after many years of reading Romans 1 in my KJV, and having worked with one for the past 3 years in a wood-working shop, I have matured and learned that they are no different than any other curse that can be reversed with good living and a knowledgeable deliverer if need be. My co-worker is actually a rather gross example of extreme perversion making reprobate jokes to us workers nearly everyday. He is not your typical metro-sexual that perhaps Prince could be classed as where they keep their male-male acts in secrecy. Nevertheless, I have hope for my friend and will continue to witness to him to get out of his Catholicism and Knights of Colombus which haven't done a thing for him the past 15 years; he takes over a dozen pharmacological meds for bi-polarism and schizophrenia, smokes about a pack and a half a day and as mentioned; reprobate.

Thanks Mark and Lon!

Cor  :)

"I think Corey has learned that some folks here are a bit touchy and will refrain from making such comments in the future."

I have decided to edit my first post to this topic for peace here. Hope that brings some relief!

When John adds chorus effect at 2:25-2:39; more good stuff!

8:40-8:45 is the only fast playing I like here. Very skillful!  :)

I've been listening to those parts the last 1/2 hour and realised that I don't like his tone. Slightly too much midrange. I don't like Dimarzio pickups.  I would like to hear his guitar with the Duncan "Pearly Gates" neck pickup through a PEC 250K potentiometer and Marshall Plexi, modified by Eddie Vaughn with Jensen Caps. and vintage Allen Bradley's, Boss Chorus CE-2, Something that will bring instantaneous peace to a woman.  ::)

From 8:40-8:45, he's showing his bride were to place the wedding band!  8-)

You sound and look like an ass with your comments Mark. It's your hole to dig further if you want?

This debacle of a thread needs a 'do over'.  I have high expectations for this forum and the vast majority of the time it delivers.  I have come to expect thoughtful and helpful advice on music, audio, equipment, etc.  What I don't expect is offensive, ignorant, disrespectful and quite frankly irrelevant comments.  So, lets get back to what matters most here...

Check out John Petrucci playing one of Prince's best songs "Purple Rain"...

"Check out John Petrucci playing one of Prince's best songs "Purple Rain"..."

I agree!

And another good thing we can do is find Eddie Vaughn who I mentioned!

Where has that chap gone to?  I tried calling his number a few years ago and it is changed.  I found his address from Russelville and will try write him.

I want to see if he can put together a type of tube pedal like the Ibanez TS-808?  My Marshall is solid-state and I want that glassy/echo/ring of tubes heard in the start of this video with the spray can :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCyw7dvcsek

Would this be in the realm of phono-stage gain coming directly off a guitar magnetic pickup?

Corey

P.S.  Found one more thing I love in this song, outro volume swells! : 8:57-9:05

No it's: stone of tone.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Trump with the Nuclear Football = not a good thing. This is some extreme Executive Branch Power....I don't think he can handle.
