Title: SS rectifiers Post by Matchstikman on 07/13/16 at 00:59:55 I just saw something online about this. What's the story with these? I can already tell this is something I shouldn't do but it looks interesting. |

Title: Re: SS rectifiers Post by ZYGI on 07/28/16 at 16:08:30 Match, Your Torii is already SS rectified. Maybe in one of your guitar amps :-) |
Title: Re: SS rectifiers Post by Matchstikman on 07/28/16 at 19:29:08 ZYGI, I also have a CSP and an SE84ZS. The Torii is not in service at present. Well, if the Torii sound good with an SS rectifier will the CSP and SE84ZS do the same? |
Title: Re: SS rectifiers Post by Lin on 07/28/16 at 19:54:40 Probably not. Best to determine tube or ss in the design stage. ;) |
Title: Re: SS rectifiers Post by Matchstikman on 07/29/16 at 00:56:39 I didn't think they had a chance. I just never thought such a thing existed. |
Title: Re: SS rectifiers Post by Lonely Raven on 07/29/16 at 21:12:53 I have a few of these solid state tube replacements. They can stiffen up a guitar amp (less or no sag), and with some clever use of resistors can be made to sag a little bit like a tube. You basically gain solid state reliability. I wouldn't say better or worse than tube, just another option. |
