Title: SS rectifiers
Post by Matchstikman on 07/13/16 at 00:59:55

I just saw something online about this.  What's the story with these?  I can already tell this is something I shouldn't do but it looks interesting.

Boy, you're a brave man bringing this up on this forum... You just stepped on a bees' nest... (pun intended)

Match,

Your Torii is already SS rectified. Maybe in one of your guitar amps :-)

ZYGI, I also have a CSP and an SE84ZS.

The Torii is not in service at present.

Well, if the Torii sound good with an SS rectifier will the CSP and SE84ZS do the same?

Probably not.
Best to determine tube or ss in the design stage. ;)

I didn't think they had a chance.  I just never thought such a thing existed.

I have a few of these solid state tube replacements. They can stiffen up a guitar amp (less or no sag), and with some clever use of resistors can be made to sag a little bit like a tube.

You basically gain solid state reliability. I wouldn't say better or worse than tube, just another option.
