Title: UL Driver in a Power Amp? Post by Brian on 06/07/16 at 00:44:16 How would it be to have an Ultra Linear drive section in a power amp, using a center tapped transformer as a coupling transformer, with a small signal pentode as the driver tube? This must have been tried during the experimental years of the industry, and yet I have not seen one or heard of it. What is wrong with it? Or is it a good design, but was abandoned to avoid paying for a coupling transformer? I don't know of many small signal pentodes. Is there a list of them some place? Brian |
