Title: Hughes AK100 SRS

Now you guys know me better than to think that curiosity will ever die in my angry scientist type brain (think Abby Normal). I have looked at these units before, reading what others might have described as a larger, more real soundstage. Ok, so, don't call me an expert just yet, but I did hook it up to the system, and had me a little listen. Then I chuckled to myself. This Exactly what I hear with my Decware system, but without the processed sound attached....hmmm, I think, perhaps it's time to go to shop with this unit under my arm and take a look see inside. The outside case is cheeep, as are the plastic knobs on the front. Better brace myself for the truth that resides within. Good thing Hughes doesn't make crap like this for jets.

Ahhhh, truth is granted. I took out the internal circuit board just now. 32 integrated circuits alone. Countless electrolytic caps (some seem to be physically leaking), And I have even started to take a serious look at this 'thing'. I am wondering whether to just wrap it back up and do a more suitable project, or see if indeed there can be some improvement from replacing all the electrolytic caps alone.[/img]
