Title: Mullard OC2 Black glass Post by orangecrush on 12/14/15 at 03:04:35 Anyone have these? I just picked some up, will listen to them this week. Beautiful black glass. Shorter then most OC2's. |
Title: Re: Mullard OC2 Black glass. Post by will on 12/14/15 at 06:01:47 This sounds like a 75C1 (I think the European designation for an OC2 VR). If so, I bet you will like it. I use them, though not Mullard labelled, they are English made and sound great to me. I have another pair that looks exactly the same (black bottle shorter than OC2), also labelled 75C1, but Valvo labelled. Recently put in a Mullard labelled OC2 for a listen (the taller bottle size of RCA and Raytheon OC2), and it was really good, my old standard, but I like the 75C1 better, so back in it went. |

Title: Re: Mullard OC2 Black glass Post by will on 12/15/15 at 00:20:14 Yes, this tube looks like an OC2 labelled 75C1 as best as I can tell. Looking forward to your impressions. I really like them. |
Title: Re: Mullard OC2 Black glass Post by orangecrush on 12/22/15 at 02:24:59 After a week with these tubes, I will be keeping them in. Slightly warm and relaxed or sophisticated for lack of a better word. Plus they look cool! |
Title: Re: Mullard OC2 Black glass Post by will on 12/22/15 at 22:01:02 Sounds like what they do here. Subtle in some ways, but not in others, I think your using "sophisticated" is a nice term for them. They seem to better differentiate more fine information, filling around the edges with texture and space, and this relaxes the overall feel and sense of pace a bit. |
