Title: RCA jacks and IC compatibility
Post by 4krow on 05/10/15 at 15:17:30

Round and round it went, 'Why can't I find RCA jacks that I like?' Cutting to the chase, it wasn't the jacks so much of the time, rather it was an old set of Nordost Blue Heaven IC's that I use. The center pin is just a hair larger, making insertion into some RCA jacks a bit tight. In the end, the internal coupling of the jack becomes deformed and loose. It also would depend on the design of the jack itself in some cases, but I have installed many different types of jacks, some cheap, but most decent. Just a word to the wise.
Also, there are times that the outside barrel ground connection on a jack is slightly big making connections ridiculous. I steer clear of the old Monster Cable 'Turbine' cables for this reason as well.
I guess the point is it's difficult to get it right when there are no actual standards for such things as Jacks and cables.
