Title: New to SE34 Rachel Amp
Post by FullRangeMan on 04/12/15 at 22:32:33

Hi folks,
Iam new to the Forum and to Rachel too.
I completly unknow how is the Rachel inside, so I apologize in advance for the many questions.
I would like to clear some doubts I dont see answer in the Rachel page.

1) Rachel use ceramic sockets or Teflon?

2) What wire is used, copper, silver, PVC, Teflon, Cotton?

3) It have soft start? How many seconds?

4) There is 2 power on switches for filaments and HV or just 1 for both?

5) I can order Rachel as monoblocks in the CSP3 box?

Thanks,
Gustavo

FullRangeMan
The power tubes meter indicators start moving after around 4 seconds.
There is just one on/off switch.
To order 2 Rachaels for use as monoblocks you just order 2 on the SE34 order page. To bridge them is made easy.

Thanks for your reply Syd.
I dont want run PP or PSE so 2 Rachel amps dont serve me.
Do you confirm this is the Steve/factory position??
Thanks

The factory position is up to you. On the shop page you can choose  what and how many inputs and volume controls you need to use as an integrated.
So you might want 2 channel volumes and a master volume with 3 inputs.
Or you may want 0 channel volumes and a master volume and 2 inputs.

Then there are the other options... base, signal caps, stepped attenuators, silver RCA`s, knobs....

I have no volumes and control through pre amp.

Thanks Syd.
I may have to ask about monoblocks to the factory staff, I will leave that for last case, for not to take their time.
I want two chassis and two power supplies.
A dual mono in one chassis also dont suit to me.

About the soft start by what you said Rachel dont have it.
Usually soft start are 10 or 15 seconds where the wall incoming voltage will rising slowly until reaching the nominal value that in my case is 220V.

Why not contact Steve directly with your questions, "go to the horses mouth" as it were ?

Do you feel they like to answer many questions from overseas NON-custumers?
They like custom orders?

I emailed Steve and have received some interesting responses:
- The Rachel use ceramic sockets as the Teflon sockets had many problems.
- Wiring is copper with PVC and Teflon jackets, signal path is Teflon.
- If I understand Steve right Rachel use around 10 seconds softstart.

Now Iam waiting Steve informing the price for two monoblocks to place my order.

FullRangeMan- I am sure that  you will love your two Rachael amps when you get them, and get them broken in. I love mine (single) driving my Omega 7XRS speakers and the ZP3 just makes the turntable sing. Happy listening, Chris.
