Title: Torii value
Post by RoyMercer on 02/10/15 at 21:21:17

In your opinion, how much is a Torii MKIII that was factory upgraded to MKIV w/stepped attenuator? This is assuming it rates 9 out of 10.

Thanks!

If it has Jupiter Caps, I'd pay $2000 max, essentially 1/3 off new retail, but I would assume the seller wants more. Below is one from Canada without the MK IV upgrade and he's asking $2700 CAD with a bunch of extra tubes.

I bought my new Torii MK IV for $2975 plus an extra $100 for the upgrade to KT-66 tubes...$90 for S&H in August/September of 2013. Keep in mind that you'll not have a warranty unless you send it to Steve, which will probably add another $150 to $200.  Mark.

PS...or you could make an offer on this MK IV if still available.  The post is from 2/8/2015... https://www.decware.com/cgi-bin/yabb22/YaBB.pl?num=1422504580

The ad also relates that he has two bases for it and the tubes included are substantial as well. A MK III by itself might go for less than $2 grand.

Riv,  I agree.  Recently a Torii went for $1600...I think it was a MK IV but I may be mistaken...it was a steal.  I figure the MK IV upgrade alone cost $500.  $2000 would be my max but I'd probably make a lower offer initially.

In a while, we may see lots of used Toriis on the market when the MK V comes out.  Mine's not going anywhere.  Mark.

I just contacted Steve for pricing on upgrading my Torii III to IV status.  The upgrade is US$750 and warranty transfer is US$600 (w/ new speced out tubes).  Hope this helps.

That was a dealer who stole it in trade and is dumping it. Too lazy to offer these things piece meal. He could have made a lot more. Those Phillips rectifiers are worth probably at least $50 each.

Riv,  so true.  Upscale Audio was selling those rectifiers for $50 each the first time I looked but when I went there recently to buy some, he was selling them for $95 each...I passed.  Did you notice the listing only lasted about 20 minutes before it was sold. Mark.

Thanks everyone for your replies, it has helped. Unfortunately I am needing to sell all of my audio gear. I will post the Torii first on Decware and then Audiogon as I get time.

Hi guys
Maybe a little off topic, but what would you expect a change from 110 v to 240 would cost. I'm on a search for second amp and I'm wondering if it would be a little less $$ to buy a used one and have Decware change the transformers when transferring warranty
