Title: Grado Blue1 MM (5mV) cart ok for ZP3?
Post by attym on 12/29/14 at 23:45:49

I've sent my dynavector in for a retip. I assume it's ok, but will running at 5mV MM cart hurt or put extra wear on the tubes compared to a HOMC 2.8mV cart?

Anyone use a Grado Blue1?

The 5 mv Grado without SUT should be good. I guess your DV needed a step up tansformer to get it up to around 5 mv so you`ll bypass the step up now. Good idea on the re-tip. My old DV 20xL should go in for the overhaul now that it`s sitting in my second deck. Please let us know how the Grado stacks up v the DV . MM from MC is a bold step.

I actually run my dynavector into the zp3 directly, no SUT.... With great results. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to damage tubes with a 5mv cart, but I suppose the MM cart is actually what it's designed for.

The Grado will work fine straight into the ZP3. Let us know how it sounds and also how the DV sounds with you get it back. Who is doing the re-tipping? Peter @ Soundsmith? He did my Monster Alpha Genesis LMC with the ruby and it's great. Happy listening, Chris.

Yes, Peter at SoundSmith.

Its a Dynavector 20x2H (2.8mV)

I'm having the $250 ruby upgrade option.
