I downloaded the "24 bits of Christmas" yesterday in FLAC but can't figure out how to play the songs back. Windows media says it isn't compatible. The computer they were downloaded on has Window 7. I assume I have to download some kind of software...player. Free would be good. Thanks in advance for your help. Mark. |

On a Windows platform, I suggest that you download "foobar2000". My fav tune in the Linn lineup is " Caledonia". Merry X'mas to everyone ! :) |

Title: Re: Free Studio Master Downloads from Linn Records Post by Lonely Raven on 12/26/14 at 16:09:46 Foobar2000 is free, and an excellent player, but the initial setup is probably pretty daunting for someone who professes to not like computer audio. You can get Windows Media Player to play FLAC by adding a CODEC. A codec is basically a file or program that tells your media player how to decode FLAC, since FLAC is a Loss-Less compressed format. I've not used this one, but here is a quick guide I found doing a Google search for you. http://www.pristineclassical.com/More/FLAC-WMP.html See if that helps. |

So whatever you're hearing, it could be noticeably better with a better software. |

I just wanted to listen to the tracks once or twice then I may delete them. I never intended to listen in the best possible sound. I'm happy with what I got. I've listened to about 6 or 7 so far.
