This thread is meant to serve as a guide for potential Torii MK4 owners who are curious about speaker pairing.

I hope that all MK4 owners out there can add on and share their speaker pairing experiences ( be it positive or negative) over here. :)

For starters, I recently got a pair of new 16 Ohms Zu Audio Soul Superfly Mk 1 b speakers.
These are now my "default speakers".

My Audio Chain now consists of :-

Oppo BDP 95
-> Soundsilver Symmetry Interconnects
-> Torii MK 4 ( default fuse)
-> Clearday Double Shotgun Speaker Cables
-> Zu Audio Soul Superfly Mk 1 b speakers

Tubes Used

Rectifier : Brimar 5R4GY "D' Getter
VR Tubes : STC CV3798 / 0A3 "D" Getter,
Mullard 75C1 / 0C2 "D" Getter
Preamp tubes: Holland Herleen Pinched Waist PCC88 "D" Getter
Output Tubes : NOS Philips Holland Metal Base EL34

MK4 Settings
Speaker Impedance: 16 Ohms
Reconstructive Feedback : Off
Bass : On
Treble : MAX "ON" Clockwise Position
Master Volume Knob : Typically 5-6 turns out of 20

Field Report on Soul Superfly speakers :-
Excellent dynamics due to the 101 db sensitivity.
Incredible Depth of soundstage.
Music is very smooth sounding.
Bass is adequate, impactful and tight ( thanks to the bass switch! )
Vocals are mesmerising and slightly forward.
Very precise centre channel for vocals.
Sound is transparent but more laid-back as compared with the Alesis speakers (mentioned below).

The reconstructive feedback switch works and does not whistle.

From my experience, another pair of speakers worth mentioning and which work very well with the Torii MK4 are the Alesis Monitor One Mk2 (Passive) Speakers.

For this pairing,
My Audio Chain consists of:-

-> Alesis Monitor One Mk2 (Passive) Speakers (TEC 1994 Winner)

Speaker sonics :-
Vocals are slightly forward.
Sound is more analytical ( not in a bad way), just more precise as compared with the Zu Soul Superfly speakers.
Soundstage has depth but not as deep as the Soul Superfly.
The reconstructive feedback switch works and does not whistle.
Bass is adequate, impactful and tight ( thanks to the bass switch! )

Compared against the US$3000 Soul Superflys, the Alesis bookshelf speakers are really value for money.
They only cost US$200 and this includes free delivery from Amazon!

This amp-speaker pairing is recommended for those who prefer a more analytical sound with more precise soundstaging.

It does lose out to the Soul Superfly speakers in that the depth of the soundstage is not as deep.
