Title: Tannoy mercury v4 or fonken 4" single drivers Post by toobnoob on 09/07/14 at 14:36:42 So we're talking tower vs bookshelf but I got a line on both under 400. What's my better bet for the decware se34i? Sorry for all the novice questions. |

Title: Re: Tannoy mercury v4 or fonken 4" single drivers Post by Lin on 09/07/14 at 20:14:57 I'd pass on those, it has a CSS driver which has a low sensitivity (mid 80s) and you are mostly paying for the cabinets. You or a friend with wood working tools and skills could build a pair out of Baltic Birch with Fostex drivers for <$200. |
Title: Re: Tannoy mercury v4 or fonken 4" single drivers Post by toobnoob on 09/07/14 at 20:16:36 Tannoy it is. For a first hifi system and for the price, I guess I can't go wrong. |
Title: Re: Tannoy mercury v4 or fonken 4" single drivers Post by Lin on 09/07/14 at 20:19:47 If a subwoofer has only RCA inputs you have to use an adapter, otherwise look for a sub (or sub amp if diy) that has speaker level inputs and run 2 pairs of speaker wire, one pair to the speakers and the other pair to the sub amp. |
