Title: Nice Web Page Upgrades
Post by Brian on 05/31/14 at 00:34:18

Hello Steve,
I have been looking at the new speaker catalog page.
I want to applaud the web designer. The use of bold type face here, and colored type there, and underlining at yet another place, helps me to grasp the important concepts on these newer catalog pages more quickly than I did on the older ones.

This also seems a good resource   http://hosted.comm100.com/knowledgebase/Category.aspx?siteid=81244&id=239

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the feedback!  That is the effect I was going for - and you always wonder when you're doing something like that if it will have the desired effect or not.  Before you get too thrilled with the web designer (me) be aware that I've been mentally blocked on the speaker pages and how to present and explain the new Monoliths since October, and I have thought about it every day during that time.  That makes me the slowest web designer on Earth I guess.

I wish I were computer savvy to help you out.  The most I could do is spell check.

I hope you have a good year with your audio products. It seems like a fun business to be in.  I often envy you.

Steve,

Just FYI - I'm seeing forum issues on multiple computers.

The pages aren't refreshing correctly showing new posts, and it's not showing me the last page if a new page has been started. Plus it's showing me every thread I've ever started and giving me a pop-up alert that it's been updated (which I got past).

I've tried clearing cookies and cache.

I'm on Chrome on Windows 7, on multiple machines all displaying similar issues.

hmmm, no problems at all on my Mac .

I've noticed the issues others have commented on, for at least two days.  I'm using Chrome with two computers...one each with windows 8 and 7.  Mark.

I too have a Mac and haven't seen any problems. Curiouser and curiouser.

I have a PC and have to refresh the pages each time to view updated threads and refresh within the threads as well to see the latest posts.

I tried calling Steve again (plus to confirm about mini-decfest) and I was told he's busy and would be calling me back.

I'll make sure he knows...it sounds like at very least us Chrome users are having trouble.

I'm testinging out Google's new Canary browser now to see if the problem persists.

PC users:  Does the form have transparent overlays, or are you seeing blotchy backgrounds?  Also is the other problems fixed or is it still happening?

Steve

The backgrounds are fine and clear, it's just the refreshing over and over to see any posts is the problem for me.

It's like the webpages aren't updating or showing anything until I click the refresh button over a couple of times.

For instance if I go into the General Discussion and Support area I need to refresh the page in order to see any new posts (which I never had to before) and when I click a topic within the General Discussion area I need to refresh the page within the post to see any new messages posted.  It's like I have to refresh the pages over and over again to see any new posts or topics.

I'm using Windows Vista and Explorer 9 and this happens in all forum areas (i.e. Classifieds, Home Theater, etc.).  I haven't checked my Windows 8.1 music server PC to see if it's happening on that one yet, but I'm suspecting so.

Same issues here as beowulf.
I have to refresh every page for it to show up correctly.

Yep, My PC needs to be refreshed, the stupid iPad doesn't seem to have issues.

Can anyone who was having problems with refreshing the pages tell me if the problem still exists.

NOTE:  You may have to clear your browser cash before the problem will go away.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,  I was still having to refresh earlier today.  I cleared the cache and deleted my browser history and everything appears to be back to normal. Mark.

Had a quick flick through the amp/speaker pages and

terrific photos and the rationale of the descriptions flowed along
v/nicely.
Great job Steve.

I take that back ... all is not perfect.  There still seems to be a few issues with refreshing that I'm having although not as bad as before.

Post by mark58 on 06/06/14 at 04:27:15

Today I've had to refresh a bunch too.  No big deal.  I'm not going to clear my Cache and delete my history again.  I've had to sign into sites and remember passwords that my computer had done before. A big PITA.  Mark.

Keep me up to date, as I did make a change in the past 24 hours that may have slightly undone the fix.  I need more data before I remove it...

Thanks,

Steve

Still having to refresh each page.  And I even noticed when I post a message and need to edit it I will need to refresh within the edit page.

I changed the cashing code as per the date and time of this post.  This should put us back to working again.  Thanks for your continued help in troubleshooting this problem.

I`m having to refresh as well.
Also tried to modify a post and it kept reverting to original.
Deleted it and posted a new one and the old one appeared   :-?
Had to just delete it.

I have installed browser cache code for our web site.

# cache images for 1 month, do not require revalidation
<FilesMatch "\.(gif|jpe?g|png|flv|swf|ico)$">
Header set Cache-Control: "max-age=1296000"
</FilesMatch>
#
# cache scripts, css, and documents for 1 week, do not require revalidation
<FilesMatch "\.(js|css|pdf)$">
Header set Cache-Control: "max-age=604800"
</FilesMatch>
#
# Cache txt, html, and htm pages for 1 week, require revalidation
<FilesMatch "\.(txt|html?)$">
Header set Cache-Control: "max-age=604800, must-revalidate"
</FilesMatch>
#
# disable caching for dynamic files
<FilesMatch "\.(pl|php|[sf]?cgi|spl)$">
Header set Cache-Control: "max-age=0, no-store"
</FilesMatch>

This could effect the forum.  Please let me know if there are any issues asap.  Thanks!

Steve
