Title: Ordered My ZP3
Post by KMokc on 04/10/14 at 17:36:22

Just ordered my ZP3 so I'm joining you guys with the excellent LP sound. This will be connected to my VPI Traveler w/Ortofon Bronze cartridge.

The ZP3 will be replacing a Lounge Audio MKII LCR Phone pre.

Kevin :)

And excellent it is KMoKc ! I stepped up from a similar price range with the respected Project tube box and it was like comparing apples with pears. A bedrock.

i am reprinting this from the torii 3 forum because it also applies to this phono pre and will give you an idea of what you can expect to hear.

this amp also lets you know if your money has been well spent on sources and other upgrades.  a few of my recent changes.
1st, exchanged my very good copper speaker wires for silver from the torii to the err's.  small upgrade, better spacial balance but not a killer, the other wire was very good and very close, had to go back and forth.
2nd, silver interconnect substituted between phono pre and torii.  watch out, not even close.  the increase in clarity was easily heard, no need to switch back and forth with that.
3rd, exchanged the sme arm for the jmw 12 inch on the tnt table with delos cart.  unbelievable.  can now easily hear that the tuba is behind the trombones just like real life.  the system was always excellent spacially, but in a diffuse sort of way.  no longer.
however, this isn't a commercial for a tone arm but for the fact that the torii and the decware phono let all of this happen, no guessing.
it is revealing without being "ruthlessly revealing".

Congrats Kevin! Give it a few hundred hours, ok maybe 300 or 400, and it will blow you away.

I honestly think that this is a real statement product from Steve, it's hard to believe how good it sounds til you spend time with it. I love digital, and have some great digital front ends, but the ZP3 always sounds so easy to listen to and yet including everything. It spins a spell that I find hard to shake.

Let us know what you think!

Wow, 300-400 hrs that means mine still has a ways to go and its certainly doing the biz now. It took a good 10hrs before I succumbed....I`d say it was a slightly humbling experience.
Way to go Kevin !

Just my experience. . . it grows better and better as the hours go on.

You do have a lot of experiece in the field Lon, and we all respect your insigts.
As a relative newbie in the more specialised equipment, and having several Decware amps, with assosciated cables, all putting the same hours in, as well as tube rolling it`s hard to put your finger on any one components blooming. tbh I gave up wondering whats doing what and treat it all as an organic system that`s creating ( I`ve read this but it`s applicable ) rich tapestries. Roll a tube o two and you start over.
And it all started with the ZP3.  :)

Yes, it's hard when there are multiple new things going on. I'm beginning to hate "break in" because I have so few hours to really listen and enjoy my system with my new situation--I want them all to be maximum pleasure hours!

Over the last year my ZP3 has really bloomed and become a monster component. Just wonderful to listen to. I know Jeff at Tone Audio has had one for some time, I keep hoping that he will publish a review. . . people need to know about this and quit buying other phono preamps. :)
