anyone try the Zu speakers  especially the soul superfly

how hard is it to run 16ohm speakers off a 8ohm tap?

Some professional reviewer has tried various 8 Ohms and 16 Ohms amps with the 16 Ohms Zu Superfly .

The speakers still sound good with 8 Ohms amps.

His conclusion is that 16 Ohms amps unleash the full potential (i.e sound the best) of these speakers.

I have the upgraded soul super fly's with a Torii MkIII and 8 and 16 ohm taps. Sounds fantastic with with either, but a little more power with the 16 ohm. I would be happy with either. I love these speakers so much. Incredibly intimate and revealing and yet can still rock the house down.

I love my Rachael with Zu Omen Definitions. I have also heard that some of the Zu guys use the Mini Torii as well.

Well, I bit the bullet. I picked up an older MT with planar mod. I have a Rachel here with my Zu Union Cubes and now the MT after it gets cap upgrade. I might even drive my sub with the MT.

I can't remember if the MT and other Decware amps need to see a load or if they are safe to run for extended times without speakers connected...or is it just the planar mod that makes this operation safe?

I think it doesnt matter, but dont go on my word  lol

this is from the website undr features

"Low power - the amplifier can't blow itself up if the speakers are unhooked, nor can it blow up a speaker if a tube shorts or fails.  There is really nothing you can do to hurt it or your speakers."
