Title: New Torii Mk III still
Post by beowulf on 07/10/13 at 10:02:32

There's a brand new Torii Mk III (purchased in 2010, but still unopened in box) for sale on ebay ... starting bid is 1995 and only 6 days left until the auction is over ... if it comes in around that price it would be an awesome catch!

Something doesn't add up. Why would the base be damaged if the unit was packaged and never opened?

Hi RR, yes you're right ... it's definitely been unpacked.  Some of the pictures even show it taken apart (unless he got them off the Decware site somewhere).  He's a regular seller and probably used a form/template to list the item.

From his listing:

Physical Condition: As new from factory, Wood base seems to have come from factory with a few minor knicks

Although they are saying it's never been put into service, but if it's been pulled out of the box and taken apart who knows where the knicks came from.  Still a good deal if the proce remains under 2K though!

He has a pair of those goofy looking mirror finish 3 tube monoblocks that were out a while ago. They are not from 2010.

Hmm ... they say 2010 on the bottom tags ... are those not from 2010 or perhaps someone bought them and transferred the warranty in 2010?  Either way, this guy is off in his postings if he's listing these as "new" ... it's hard to believe that they were never used but purchased over 3 years ago.

Those ""goofy three tube monoblocks" sound spectacular with a nice driver and rectifier tube in place. I owned a pair for years and they were hard to top. They look fantastic in person too; a much nicer presentation than the se84c series.

I agree, I thought "goofy" was not the right word! I'd love to hear a pair, have a pair, but I have too many amps and one on the way! But I bet they would be perfect in my Dad's system (which I am listening to more than either of mine, much more).
