Title: Triode mode switch??
Post by McKajVah on 06/03/13 at 00:32:47

Would it be possible to add a switch to make triode-mode possible on this amp?

Would this not make it a lot like a Super Zen Triode, but with a bit less power?

Imagine the possibilities...

The original zen used to have a pentode-triode switch but Steve said only 1 of about 50 zen owners preferred the pentode. Powerwise, you won't probably notice the difference of 4db.

YEAH! That's why I would want a Pentode <-> Triode switch on the Taboo, if it is possible. The Taboo is constructed as a pentode class A amp from the factory..

The one to answer definitively would be Steve.

He doesn't often see questions here on the forum. You could email him directly, or email Sarah to ask him, or give a call to Steve or Sarah.

I have an EL84 amp that is switchable and there can be a very noticeable difference between 2 watts and 6 watts.

Many feel that it is very difficult (impossible) to make an amp like this sound great in both modes.

YMMV
