Title: Knob choices
Post by MoNelly on 03/28/13 at 07:58:51

Is the black knob option the birds beak style, or like the gold style (only, um, black)?

Also, what's the Ohm output impedance of the MK III?

Thanks!

I believe it is available round or chicken beak. Choose chicken beak.

To replace a knob on my csp2, is it just a matter of pulling off the old knob.  I have a gold knob on my csp2 and gave it a moderate pull, didn't want to break anything, it didn't budge.  I hesitate to exert more force with out checking w/ one you fine gents first.

To remove the knob, you have to 1st locate a tiny hole at one of the sides.

A magnifying glass should help!

A small "Jeweller's screwdriver" is required to unscrew the tiny screw which holds the knob in place.

I thought some of these were the kind that had no screw, just a push on type. With those you have to lift very carefully.

No set screw on mine.  I tried again w/ firm pressure. didn't budge.  Hmm,  I'd prefer it have the same knob as my torii, but maybe I'll just leave it on.  Not the end of the world.

They are a bear, but you have to work it off, if you know what I mean. Gently push up on one side from underneath and repeat that on the other side.

The Taboo MK III has some limitations on know choices as it turns out, that i will have to correct on the web page.  The chicken head knobs no longer fit as they hit the input selector switch.  Since we build every Taboo MKIII with a gold contact stepped attenuator using a 6mm knurled shaft, the wooden knobs do not fit either.  This leaves a push on gold knob or black knob as the only two options.  To remove one of these knobs requires two bread knives placed under each side of the knob and then evenly pried off.  There is always some risk in damaging the attenuator during this process, but if done carefully the risk is fairly low.

TABOO MKIII KNOB CHOICES - GOLD or BLACK only.

Too bad. Cream chicken beaks (not "creamed," mind you) would be perfect on this amp. But gold will do.

Or maybe there is a "snub nose chicken beak" knob out there.......

Hi MoNelly and PR,

Yes those are great choices, but those only go to level 10 ... YOU NEED knobs that go to 11 if you really want to Rock! ;D
