Title: I now understand
Post by Donnie on 02/15/13 at 00:29:07

I just put in some new JJ EL34's in my Torii III. Wow what a big change, so much more detail and sparkle. It looks like I need to keep up on mantenance. I ran it into the ground, from now on I need to keep it this way.

Right! Especially since you were running your 'red' with a blown off tube, as I recall you mentioned ...  :)

Hi Donnie, what made you go with the EL34's instead of the 6CA7's? Just curious.

Simple, a buddy that plays gutars had a quad that he gave me.

Interesting: I've used and liked JJ 6ca7's in my se34i, and after only a few hundred hours have had 2 tube failures.
I understand it's not uncommon with this tube.
Anyone else?
Don

Contrary to my experience, as I've used three quads, one for nearly a year, the others for months, and not a single glitch, love these tubes.

No failures on my 6CA7s, two quads of which ran strong for about 18 months.

Early production showed as problematic for me on the 6CA7. Three quads in which a tube went bad.

Early productions of what Will? Maybe you mentioned it earlier and I missed it.
