Title: Rectifier for SE84C Post by hoops on 05/09/12 at 21:45:52 Hi, I did mention it, and someone else asked in the specific SE84C section but its a bit quiet down there. I have a SE84CW (Export model?) with a variety of tubes. Input - Mullard ECC88, Mullard 6922 (ECC88) and an Golden Dragon E88CC/6DJ8 Rectifier - WGTA 5Y3 Drivers - Edicron EL84 with some new Siemens EL83 coming next week I quite fancy one of the 'Coke Bottle' rectifiers from an looks point of view, but which ones will be suitable? I have seen the following mentioned for the SE84 series amps, which ones are likely to work best with the EL83's? GZ32 5U4 5R4 (5R4GY) 5V4 5Y3 (5Y3G, 5Y3GT and 5Y3GB) Thanks (Dazed and Confused) :-? Title: Re: Rectifier for SE84C Post by hoops on 05/14/12 at 15:02:52 Thanks :) Can anyone confirm that the EL83 tube will work OK in this amp a a replacement for the original SV83 and EL84? Thanks, |
Title: Re: Rectifier for SE84C Post by nico on 07/28/12 at 13:11:39 Late reply, but NO it is not a suitable replacement. I asked here at the local tube shop and they did explain why....but most of it went beyond my understanding. I was offered a lot of nice EL83 tubes but am glad I asked first at the shop. Nico |
Title: Re: Rectifier for SE84C Post by hdrider on 08/06/12 at 00:31:13 I just added a Mazda GZ 32 from Kevin at Upscale Audio, wish I had done it years ago. Tighter bass and the imaging just seemed to bloom after the first few days. |
