Title: Strange Products?
Post by stone_of_tone on 11/05/11 at 16:57:04

Whom do you think buys this stuff? Those that do IMO deserve the circuit board to fry out in 2 months with no service and nobody to call?

I forget the product line but seem to remember it was Cayin or something similar that had an amp with a regulator tube that had power to the filiments but the amp functioned the same when it was removed.
I think I heard that here.  I believe everyone deserves a fair shake but come on, as said would you buy a car with no dealer or parts network?

In fairness, there is some very good stuff to be bought through non-traditional distribution channels. I waited months for a custom built DAC from Malaysia. It was a beautifully built Promitheus unit, and it's what I wanted. Direct BTO and shipment from Malaysia. If anything went wrong with it……….wouldn't want to be there, but what I got was so good, that I would consider it again. Lots of decent stuff sold out of Hong Kong from reliable reputable dealers. Over on Head-Fil, some of this stuff out of Hong Kong is very popular, even with the acknowledged failure/repair risk.

"Limpidness?" I think so. Those ratty Chinese valves and the transformer covers hide cheap iron.

Decware ships with some chinese tubes... both my original rectifiers were from china. The 5U4G's

Though I do prefer the sound of the 1950's Silvertone 5Y3GT rectifiers I have.

"Limpidness"?  I know right? The copy writing here and the product are just comical. Lost in translation is an understatement. The sad part is this has persisted for years now.
