Title: Tube Glow & Home Theater Post by Pale Rider on 07/19/11 at 04:39:09 I was watching the big screen this evening, and as I found myself irritated by the LEDs on the equipment I have now as distracting from the immersion experience, I started to wonder: "What the fsck am I going to do about the tube glow headed my way?" The Zracks will be nice, but they won't hide the tubes. In fact, I don't want to hide the tubes most of the time. I love that glow. But what about when you actually want "lights out"? Any suggestions? |
Title: Re: Tube Glow & Home Theater Post by Lon on 07/19/11 at 12:16:21 Never bothers me. I think if you just relax and do your best to let it not become an issue it will just . . . not become an issue. |

Title: Re: Tube Glow & Home Theater Post by Lord Soth on 06/23/12 at 10:16:39 Remember the scene from the movie, A Bug's Life (1998), [two mosquitoes fly near a bug zapper; one flies towards it, as if in a trance] Bug zapper mosquito #1: Harry, no! Don't look at the light! Harry the Mosquito: [entranced] I-can't-help-it. It's-so-beautiful. [Harry gets zapped, falls] Harry the Mosquito: Woo hoo! ;D |
Title: Re: Tube Glow & Home Theater Post by Hotsauce on 06/23/12 at 19:42:43 LED is a point source, and really glares. Tube glow is soft. I have Mk-III's with KT-88's in my setup and its not distracting watching a movie on the projector. It would not be difficult to bend up a cage from perforated metal if it really bothered you. Title: Re: Tube Glow & Home Theater Post by Pale Rider on 01/28/13 at 20:46:45 I worried about this at first, but I think Hotsauce is right. Tube glow is soft, diffuse, and not irritating. LEDs are an entirely different story. I have been meaning to take some good pics of my HT rig, but the operative term in that phrase is "meaning to." |
