Title: Where is everybody?
Post by DrN on 06/08/11 at 15:22:18

I have not been here in awhile. I see very few of the OLD regulars here. :o
I have been going in different directions. Lots of changes. Moved again, this time to outside Charlotte, NC. We love it here.

I do miss my Sig Monos.
Settled in on  a much smaller simpler system. Smaller but not cheaper. :-/

Extremely happy with this excellent setup.

Oh, what happened to "nitpicker"?
Stopped nitpicking since 09? WOW!

Hey N, welcome back to posting.

Nit moved over to the sister Audiophile site which I haven't visited for some time. A few other regulars moved over there rather than here.

Glad things are going well!

I hope everyone is well!
What happened to the "sister board"? Steve drop it?

Lon, I hope all is well with you and your wife. Did you finally retire? Sorry for getting personal.
Shreek, I hope all is well in your end of the world.
Man, stuff has been happening.

I'm a lot  closer to you now, I should come and visit.
Southern folk are very hospitable to us northerners.

N,

Unfortunately I lost my wife to lymphoma and MDS on October 8, 2007. I did retire six months later, but I went back to work briefly at the beginning of this year and will be looking for work again very soon.

I had a sad time, but I'm back on track. There's love in my life, and lots of time for great music.

Hello Den. I have rather dropped out.  Eventually I could think of nothing more to contribute.  I do miss the comraderie.

I'm back now. (Washington State.) I haven't even looked at my profile yet. I have not been to this forum in a long time. I have not wanted to. The reason I didn't want to was because I found a design for the most awesome subwoofer I could then imagine. Sorry guys, but I lost it in all it's complete awesomeness and I decided to give it away because I wanted to give everything away and become homeless again. (didn't become homeless)

I have a Harman Kardon 40W plate amp. Too bad I can't ditch everything but the amp in it because I have no idea how it is made. I don't have the satellite speakers that go with it and control the amp so it is next to useless to me.

How has everyone been lately?  Long time no news.

HD, tell us more about this aweom subwoofer design.

Bob and I have been discussing the SW issue a bit, and I am inlined to hold back until I get my room treated.

basically it is a 6th order. =0) One side tuned lower than the other. but since it has an xover I guess it's actually a 7th. But the box in front of the driver is not actually connected to the other box and is loaded across an angled gap through a hole half the size of the cone. Not loud at all, but delivers beautiful deep bass.

EDIT::I should probably draw some pictures... I have no idea what to call this enclosure, it uses a principle that is found on the ZEN OPEN BAFFLE SPEAKER PROJECT. Oh, and not only does it sound beautiful, it cancels out some of the speaker compression... I meant it goes louder before compression compared to a 4th order.

Here, here is a pic for you.

I decided it might look like 3 canyons so I now dub it a canyon.
