Title: Subbing in 6CG7 for 12AU7 (mini-Torii)

1. I'm curious about trying some adapters for the mini-Torii to use 6CG7 in place of the 12AU7s.

Found this online, and would like some input, sounds like adapters and just drop it in, the "if" is the 2nd quote :

"correct on the 5814 black plate but you know what would be the best idea and I kid you not? This has worked superbly on very Mac amp I have done and even my high power stromberg carlson theater amps. What you do is move the filament wires to 4 and 5 and sub in a 6cg7..The difference is one you will thank yourself for and its a direct replacement and its much more linear and you will lower THD by 2 tenths plus.Just move the fil wires. You can thank Pak protector for this as he was on me for 2 years to do this and I have never looked back.
If the power supply waveform isn't pretty, neither is the sound in most cases."

"If your 6.3 volt transformer winding can handle the additional load, a 12BH7 makes a fine substitute for the 12AU7. Otherwise, try a 5814 as others have suggestedU7."

2. I'd also like to hear if the extra heater current for the E80CC (2x filament current) or 12BH7 excludes them from use in the torii.

Has the circuit been specifically optimized for the 12AU7? With no room for the 2x filament current draw, if so it would seem that the 5814 or possible the adapter for 6CG7 would be the path to explore. It's amazing how much discussion there is online about how non-linear the 12AU7 is.

Why wouldn't you not just pop in a 12AT7 or 12AX7 variant to get the input signature you like? The 6CG7 is a substitute for the 6922. It is a poor substitute indeed, lacking in verve and dynamics.

I think you have the 6CG7 confused with another valve.

I do have some 7062 I'm going to try soon.

I tried some 6CG7 in my MLB and they sounded weak, laid back and not satisfying.
