Well, after 13 years of trying to take pictures of my products for the web site with less than two grand worth of photography equipment (and absolutely no idea what I'm doing) I've finally put an end to my frustrations. I was able to arrange a shoot with a hi-end firm in Chicago (Modern Image Studios) who spent a fourteen hour - karma rich day here. Took 3 hours just to set up the sixty thousand dollars worth of gear they brought. I don't think that included the thirty grand lens they used for the product shots.

Anyway, it's always a thrill to witness true guru's at work and these guys were.

In the coming months I'll be updating the web site with these images, starting with the electronics. Here are some low res samples. One is the SE34I.2 Zen Triode Integrated, one is the TORII MK III and one is the Mini Torii SEX.

Is that cool or what?

HI Steve
nice pictures, however I would suggest you a couple of things if you allow me, the reflection of the amps are a bit too strong, the first one, probably the best one of the bunch, has a more distinct blur to the reflections, that creates a nice 3Dimensional effect, in the other, just becasue they were take at a greater distance, the reflections are more distinct making the 3D effect disappear. I would suggest to

a: soften the reflections
b: lower the light in the reflection too

as an example I have attached a photoshopped version of one of the pictures, this was done in two seconds and could be done better

I understand what you're saying and appreciate your insight but I think your examples might be too extreme. I have taken your advise and applied it to one of the images by simply darkening the reflection without loosing focus. To my eyes, this looks better.

It does look better, I made it extreme to clarify my point.

theyr are great pictures, for GREAT amps!

Very nice, slick images sure to encourage interest in the equipment and boost sales. They are somewhat idealized, but not different from what other manufacturers are doing. These new images will replace the current ones, which are more realistic, like the work of Richard Avedon.

I think the original photos look great. These look nice, but they're a bit romantic. Decware amps aren't, they're not at all sentimental, they're raw and real.

They do look much better with less vivid reflections.

Congrats on a successful shoot. Seems you enjoyed the event!

Alterations are subjective but the photos speak for themselves...really nice! Being in the design field I'd love to see these used in some fine printed sales liturature. Even though the Internet is great there's nothing like holding paper in hand. Good for you Steve ;)

Wonder what the $30K lens was - most of the lenses in this price bracket are long lenses not suitable for this type of work. Interesting!

It was a lens that is angled so that you can create a band of focus through the center of the object with the front and back of the object out of focus at the same time.
