Over the years, the best results seem to have been reported from making it 2" taller than the plans and angling the baffle enough to support the drivers. As far as getting the sealed space correct, the best is to use a modeling program to get the sealed side for an optimized 4th order band pass and adjust the sealed volumes in the WO as close to this as possible.

Hope that helps,

Robert

I will haft to agree with Robert. My friend built WO with Dayton DVCs and just added two inches to the height. Fitting the DVCs required the baffles to be angled a right smart but it still sounded devastating.

I'm also planning on building one. Just one question, when you say angle the baffle, do you mean like this? thanks..

That's what I have done in the past. Just make sure you design it so that the screws holding the driver onto the baffle are 'fairly' easy to get to unless you plan on using some sort of anchoring system for it. From that picture a few of the screws would be a real pain with that design. Ah brings back memories of my first WO box...I loaded it with a pair of Autotek MX-1222 subs...what a beautiful match. The 2"excursion certainly did what it does best. To this day that sub not only had the excursion...but the control like a dream. I wish I could still get them for $75 lol

What subs are you planning to use?
