Title: rectifier tube damping Post by proud_indian on 01/17/08 at 04:54:38 I was wondering about the effectiveness of a damper on the rectifier tube vs the rest ( input/power). I do have one on, but have not really heard much of a difference if I removed it. Any views? shreekant :) |
Title: Re: rectifier tube damping Post by Lon on 01/17/08 at 12:09:03 It may depend on the tube and its micorphony. I have one (a Mapleshade Tube Anchor) on one and I like it best with one on. . . . |
Title: Re: rectifier tube damping Post by Doorman on 01/17/08 at 20:57:25 Shreekant: What Lon said makes sense, re: the particular tubes architecture, and therefore it's tendency to vibrate. I don't have any tube dampers large enough for a rectifier, but I do use the cheap "rubber band" type on the power tubes. I can't say I hear a difference, though. Don |
