I was wondering about the effectiveness of a damper on the rectifier tube vs the rest ( input/power). I do have one on, but have not really heard much of a difference if I removed it. Any views?

It may depend on the tube and its micorphony. I have one (a Mapleshade Tube Anchor) on one and I like it best with one on. . . .

Shreekant: What Lon said makes sense, re: the particular tubes architecture, and therefore it's tendency to vibrate. I don't have any tube dampers large enough for a rectifier, but I do use the cheap "rubber band" type on the power tubes. I can't say I hear a difference, though.
