Title: DB 212 driver
Post by Heavy-D on 12/19/06 at 18:43:53

Hi everyone new to DIY and really like the sub designs here and have a looooong way to go. I've decided to make a DB 212 for HT and music. The www.rythmikaudio.com/nonservo_product.htm#250basic"]Rythmik A250-Basic[/url] amp looks good was wondering which driver works best with it. I understand it's personal preference but I'd like to hear your opinions.

Also what would be a good wood to make a DB 212? The two suggestions I've read are MDF and Birch any other options available?

Thank you Adrian for your reply and for ignoring the wood question. I've since learned it's best to use non resonant wood.

non-resonant = impossible. everything has a resonant frequency.
maybe some very light wood will resonate high enough and will be out of the usable freq band of the sub. but that poses a diffrent problem. i personally don't like light subboxes. 3/4" mdf and bracing isn't enough for me  :-*

What kind of subs do you like?

let's just say a single 10 is enough to move around a 1cf sealed box.  :-*

Daytons are phonomenal price performers.  If they are not working out for you, a mach5audio driver may suit your needs.

Personally, the Deathboxes I have made have all been very rigid and quite dead- the only noise I ever get from them is the occasional port chuffing.  Rounding the edges of the ports fixes that quickly enough though.

The 12" DB-500 looks good.  :D
