Title: possability?
Post by irupp33 on 10/06/06 at 00:55:41

Okey heres the deal,
I want to build a wicked one...
Now i have 4 ma 12xe's of a hk401sx (about 1800 rms on a good day)
Now would 2 of these on that amp in a wicked one come even close to being as loud as the 4 12s ported (crx style, subs up port back)?
I was thinking about making a wall just stacking 2 WOs on top of each other facing foward all trimed around it.
I have a 1993 isuzu rodeo. Over all height from floor to roof i have to work with is around 30"

But i just want to experiment and see just how loud these things really get.

The WO design will dominate the ported box in terms of SQ.  As far as loudness, I again would bet the WO would win.  If anything it would be close.

SO if you have the time and wood- go with a WO or two, you will not regret it.

yea but would 2 12s in a WO be louder than 4 12s in just a regular ported box?

No

I have used those same subs in this experiment. The WO will not be louder with two subs than the ported box with 4
Sound better - yes
louder - not by a long shot

Now if you want to get hairy with 4 MA subs in a wall  ???

I set a record at NOPI with two of those subs in a vented box a while back. Granted I had a good bit more power, but nonetheless, lol.
I would still recommend building the WO to see what happens. The experience is worth the effort and it is an amazing enclosure.

Keep us posted
