Title: Emission Labs EML 5U4G in an SE84CS?
Post by Zikks on 07/25/06 at 18:50:50

Has anyone used an Emission Labs EML 5U4G with an SE84CS?

I suppose I should really ask the question, "Will it even fit in front of the transformer?"

It's a real monster.

Hi Zikks,

Welcome to the forum .....

A while back, I started a thread asking about the same thing.  It can be found here.

I have owned Emission Labs 45 power tubes and they are great sounding and beautiful to look at.  If I ever have the extra "pocket change", it would be nice to have one of their 5U4 rectifiers ..... :)

Best wishes,

Randy

E/L tubes are EXPENSIVE.  NOS 5U4GBs by TungSol, RCA, and GE are still quite affordable.  The cylindrical bottle is not "sexy".  IMO, it doesn't matter, as the NOS 'GBs sound GOOD.

That is a large tube.  It might actually fit in a CS because of its height.  In comparison to the RCA 5u4g (a tube I use, btw) the width of the EML is about the same at the height of the widest part of the RCA.  It appears to gradually expand above that and it just might clear the transformer.

The new platform CS2 is supposed to have a little more room in front of the transformer.
