Title: port placement
Post by dalfe5 on 07/04/06 at 07:53:42

i will be putting one maybe two DB10s in my ford ranger.  they will be loaded with a jl 10w3d2. which way would be best to face the port?  i have enough room to face them in any direction. also what would be a good crossover point?

I set my crossover to 50Hz for critical listening, and 80 when I want to pound.

My guess is that you'll stop at 1 being enough.

1 db10 is plenty enough to give the china in my room a pretty good shake at low level  :D
blends real nice with my mains, crossed at around 50. try all the sides : front, back, left, right. it's pretty easy with the db, since it has a square footprint.

i thought one might be enough so i built just the one for now.  if it does what i think it will then i may build the second one for my other vehicle.  thanks for the help.

There is also the truck box by Steve that he used in small trucks.

THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BUT THE BOX IS TOO SMALL.  I WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE IT TO FIT THE SUB.  SUB MOUNTING DEPTH IS TOO MUCH.  EMAILED STEVE DECKERT ABOUT IT AND HE SAID JUST TO EXTEND THE BOX TO FIT.  MAY TRY THAT LATER.  I JUST ENJOY THE BUILDING PROCESS.

the thing about the truck box is that it's an example on how to build (brace and angle the panels) a box that small.
i personally would go with the DB  ;D
