Title: Headphone advice for a Taboo MkIII
Post by Hearafter on 10/30/25 at 22:13:09

Looking for advice on getting a new open back headphone set for my Taboo without breaking the bank.  Ideally under $1000.  I have come up with 3 pretty good choices New and Used.  Audeze LCD2 $700, GR Verum 2 $425 or ZMF Auteur Classic $800-900.  I am open to others as well…Appreciate all input.

I really like my Sennheiser HD800S which I have used with a Taboo Mk III, IV and now with a CSP3.

I think the Drop HD6XX is an insane bargain for a tube amp. It really benefits from a silver cable IMO.

Lon and CAJames- Appreciate the suggestions.  I will look into Sennheiser. Geez the HD6XX is $199 and basically a rebranded HD650. Ummm a silver cable…any recommendations?  Thanks!

I listen with headphones very sparingly, so my budget was on the modest end. I use the HD6XX with XLR cable to the CSP3 and agree… It’s an insane bargain, for the quality of sound.

I believe the CSP3 is good with higher impedance headphones, but correct me if I’m wrong, though the Taboo mkIII may handle both low and higher impedance headphones, doesn't it excel with lower impedance, like planars?

In my experience it does well with both high and low.
