Hi,

Are you all using preamps with Torii Monos? If so, what preamps match well with it? I have Audio Research Reference 3 preamp and wanted to see if it will match well with the Monos.

Pre-Decware I owned and/or heard lot of AR gear and while I have never heard the Torii Monos I'm confident that a Ref 3 would be an excellent match with any Decware amp, esp. if you are using the balanced output. If I were to compare the Decware "house sound" with a major market audiophile label it would probably be Audio Research. Both are fast, transparent and well extended at both ends of the frequency spectrum. With what I'll call liquidity rather than tube warmth.

A little late, but I have used a Pass Labs XP-32 and an NAD M66. Both have worked really well.
With the Pass the Monos were driving my Carver Amazing Line Sources full range.
With the NAD I am bi-amping the Carver ALSs, the Monos are driving the 18 "woofers" on each speaker and the Torii MkIV is the planar magnetic midranges and tweeters.
Works great either way, but I think it sounds better with the speakers bi-amped. Could the bi-amping, could be the pre-amp, could be the different room.
