Title: AMT Tweeter Question
Post by Doug on 11/09/24 at 04:27:40

Is the AMT tweeter on the new ZROB speaker the Dayton Audio AMTPRO-4?
I'm thinking about flipping over my Lii Song ZF15Ls to the magic 38 degree angle and attaching a pair of AMT tweeters.

Hi Doug,

Yes, that is the tweeter used.  A 5.6uF cap hooked to the negative lead.  15 inch driver full range.

Would love to hear your impressions!

I’m hoping to make a pair of ZROBs at some point, so I looked up those caps, and WOW, those are honkers! Spendy, too, if you use something good like Miflex. But I guess if you’re gonna do it, do it right.

Make sure that you hook up the tweeter backwards, positive lead to the negative hook up.

For whatever reason hooking them up backwards makes them sound better.

Probably something about phase angle. Way over my pay grade.

So Donnie, are you saying to hook the tweeter up 180 degrees out from the main driver? With the cap following the lead from the negative pole of the main driver, which would then be on the positive pole of the tweeter? I kinda feel like Alice going thru the looking glass.
