Anybody have a few favorite string bands?
Do you prefer performers from a particular era?

String Quartets are not really what I listen to but I came across this from the archives and it's pretty good.

I have heard good reviews of the Kronos Quartet.
After posting here at Decware, I found a forum dedicated to this kind of music https://www.talkclassical.com/61245-best-string-quartet-ensembles.html

I'm still a novice at the music of string quartets. I really like the stereo (they also recorded mono versions) versions of the Beethoven and Batok quartet pieces by the Vegh Quartet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Végh_Quartet Their cellist is a feisty one.

I also like the most recent recording of the Beethoven by the Tokyo Quartet which is available on SACD. Excellent sound and playing.

I also love the Villa Lobos string quartets performed by the Quarteto Latinoamericano.

I like Vegh Quartet. I had not heard of Quarteto Latinoamericano. I will have to give them a listen. Thanks.
