Title: Bryston bakes Pi Post by Scott in mich on 11/08/18 at 05:25:11 I found this interesting: http://www.bryston.com/products/digital_audio/BDP-Pi.html Looks like basically the same transport I have - Rapberry Pi and hifiberry digi+. There's looks a lot nicer though! Far as I can tell its running music player daemon. I'd love to know the base os and any tweaks they did. |

Title: Re: Bryston bakes Pi Post by Scott in mich on 11/09/18 at 04:52:15 Found a couple pictures of this thing. Now I'm even more curious. Looks like the hifiberry board is made just for Bryston. The hifiberry folks had a blog post from March 2016 announcing its debut. Tommy: Sadly this one is a bit out of my price range. ![]() ![]() |
Title: Re: Bryston bakes Pi Post by StanleyG on 11/12/18 at 06:26:03 I was running a BDP-Pi for awhile a year or so ago. I liked it for its size and lack of too many buttons. My fond recollection is that the sound quality was better than that of my BDP-1. Alas, the bee in my bonnet recently has been DSD and the BDP-Pi only did PCM (maybe there is newer firmware). My experience with the two Bryston units (and later a Sonore microRendu) convinced me that getting the file rendering function away from a conventional desktop or laptop computer does flipping wonders for sound quality and there are several ways to skin that cat. No (conventional) computers in my playback chain! |
