Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by MarkBlair on 01/26/11 at 18:02:39 Dave - What forms of payment will you accept? And how much for 6 of them, with shipping, to zip code 32579? Also, do you know how long they're expected to last -- compared with the 5000 hours that the Russion MIL spec version that Steve ships with the SE84C+ amps are supposed to last? Mark |
Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by davedutill on 01/26/11 at 20:16:19 Hi Mark Tubes will be $4.00 ea plus another $5.00 bucks for parcel post delivery. $29.00 delivered. Paypal or USPS money order. Life expectancy will depend on the circuit. My personal experience: I ran SV83's in my Zen Select for two plus years 24/7, always kept the amp on. Never had any issues. These are the stash I have left after selling the amp. Thanks |
Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by MarkBlair on 01/26/11 at 22:02:32 Dave - I'm going to do just a bit more checking on these plain-jane SV83's vs the MIL spec tubes I got with the SE84C+ I just received a few weeks ago, but I'm interested. Would you like to PM me with you PayPal info in case I decide to take the plunge when I get home this evening? Of course, you're also welcome to just reply to this with your PayPal info -- what ever works best for you. And do you mind if I ask why you decided to get rid of your amp? And did you notice any difference between the MIL spec output tubes (assuming your amp originally came with them, too) vs the SV83s you're selling? Sorry for all the questions! Mark |
Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by davedutill on 01/27/11 at 03:32:00 Hi Mark My amp shipped with the Svetlana SV83's. And these are the tubes I stocked up on when I had the amp. I did try some of the PAANO "mil-spec" versions just to see if there was a difference. I could not hear much difference in my amp. I built a 300B amp which I am really enjoying. A very simple circuit with superlative sound. One 6DJ8/channel drives a single 300B. about as simple as it gets. Its just a very natural sounding amp. The midrange is very palpable and for lack of a better description "real". Thanks Dave |

Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by DirtDawg on 02/04/11 at 00:02:20 Are you just offering your spares for sale or is there more I need to know? Your presentation put me off a bit, but I certainly collect bargain tubes. Any more that you would add, if given the chance? |
Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by davedutill on 02/04/11 at 03:59:31 Hi dirtdawg "My amp shipped with the Svetlana SV83's. And these are the tubes I stocked up on when I had the amp." I have sold the amplifier. I purchased these SV83's shortly after getting the amp from Steve at the 2001 bottlehead show. This gave me an ample supply of a known tested tube which the SE84 Select was designed around. At ter sums it all up... Regards |
Title: Re: NOS SV83's for sale Post by MarkBlair on 02/04/11 at 04:45:45 Dave - You're too good of a guy -- you didn't need to send me anything extra! But I'll try it out as soon as I get it. I really like my new SE84C+, and a friend just can't believe that I'm using a 2 watt amp to power professional studio monitors (PMC TB2S+ speakers) -- but they sound great at nearfield distances. Anyway, I'm delighted to have a few spare SV83 tubes now -- but I have to decide on whether to stick with the stock driver/signal tube. So I'll be curious to see what you've sent... Anyway, thanks again, Dave! Mark |
