Beginners guide

As a relative tube newbie and as an art student not a science or engineering  one, the intricacy of detail that so many of you have does leave me floundering a bit. I try to follow along but pretty soon the depth of detail escapes me
Was searching around the net and discovered this article
https://www.x3mhc.no/dokumenter/SE-v-PP-Part1.pdf
Found it first on my iphone and in the small text failed to see the author, but the more I read the more Decware the philosophy sounded, turns out it’s by Eddie Vaughn, very much a kindred spirit in terms of design / concept. I know here it is preaching to the converted, but does give a reasonably followable explanation on designs and how tube amps work and vary, good read for those of us with a less technical mind

My first SET was a second hand Vaughn Carina, I had NO IDEA what I had, sadly budget tubes, poorly selected speakers and ignorance on my behalf left me wondering what all the fuss was about. I ended up selling it to another tube fan, he totally loves it and then 6 months later he was selling his UFO84 and I bought of him, a much more educated buyer at that stage and with a far more suitable set of speakers and I’m totally sold on the SET idea. Funny how the world works sometimes

Good morning PointThatThing,
That was one of a series of three articles Eddie authored back in the day. I don't remember what the other two were about. I had them all printed and safe until a leak in the roof of my garage caused their demise, and I have been unable to locate any links. I now have one and would dearly like the other two.
How did you find that white paper ? Any chance you could check and see if there might be links to the other two.
Thanks for posting this. Brings back many fond memories. Spent countless hours on the phone with Eddie. He was a great teacher.

Cheers,      Crazy Bill

Crazy Bill, here’s the parent directory: https://www.x3mhc.no/dokumenter/

There’s a “part 2” there by Eddie. Several other good articles, maybe a third by Eddie? Haven’t finished my coffee yet.  [smiley=beer.gif]
