Lii Audio Fast 10 vs Silver 10
11/18/22 at 02:01:25

Hey all, just joined and I am trying to decide which Lii Audio drivers to stuff into my Caintuck baffles.  I bought the 10" versions and I'm not sure what to go with.  I believe the Fast 10 is more suited for open baffle which is fine by me since they're quite a bit less expensive than the Silvers.  I can't find much on the Fast 10 in terms of reviews or video or even discussion so maybe they're not that popular.  Was hoping some of you folks might have some opinions.

Thanks!

While this is a long thread, lots of pages, there is quite a bit of discussion of the different drivers including the FAST/ Silver.

It’s a good place to start gathering info, Steve weighs in quite a bit,

Good luck, and welcome aboard!

Did you ever come to a conclusion / decision about this?  I didn't realize some people regarded the Fast 10 as being more open-baffle friendly... and I'm considering building a Silver 10 OB setup.  I'll do my own reading as well, of course, but it's good to hear the thoughts of others who followed a similar path.

I didn’t find anything too useful but that’s ok. I believe the Fast10 has a higher Q rating which is why it may be better in an open baffle.

Hi TubeGuy,

The Fast-10 drivers definitely have a better .QTS parameter for open baffle than the Silver-10.

However, I have several customers who have purchased baffles for the Silver-10s and are very happy with the sound.

Since the drivers roll off pretty quickly below 100 HZ or so, a powered subwoofer or "bass baffle" is needed to create a true full range system.

In addition, the Decware ZROCK2 works very well to improve the tonal balance of these drivers.

The Fast-10 drivers cost a lot less and are great "bang for the buck".

Best wishes,
Randy
